Cornerstone sponsors events and activities especially for international students and scholars. We enjoy meeting students from other countries and helping them make the adjustment to life in Kansas City.
Second Saturdays take place on the second Saturday of each month. A mixed group of Americans and internationals meet in an American home to enjoy a meal together, have fun with an ice-breaker or game, and engage in an informal discussion relating to the Bible. New people are always welcome, and you do not need to be a Christian to participate. These gatherings are a great place to learn about American culture, practice conversational English, and meet friends from different parts of the world. Check back for summer meeting dates.
A monthly oriental grocery trip (one Saturday per month) provides round-trip transportation from pickup points near UMKC to an Asian-specialty grocery store. This is your chance to stock up on food items you love but can’t find at a typical American grocery store.
For details, directions or transportation info for any of the above activities, contact Carlos or En Liang.
