When Disaster Strikes
Main idea
Jesus taught that in this broken world, the strike of disaster is unpredictable. But the call we need is consistent: to be prepared to stand before God.
Many in Jesus’ time assumed that when people suffered from persecution or disaster, they must be getting what they had coming for their greater sin.
What did Jesus teach instead?
- In a broken world, the consequences of sin are never evenly distributed
- Calamities are a call to repentance (“Unless you repent…”)
