Scripture: Deuteronomy

A ‘Face to Face’ Relationship

Moses had a “face to face” relationship with God and you can, too! At the end of Deuteronomy, a statement is made about Moses that makes him very unusual in history. “Since then no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face …” (34:10).

The Song of the Rock

God wants us to know that He, the sovereign King, is full of mercy and perfect in justice, and He will fulfill His purposes and keep his promises to His people in spite of their stubborn folly and rejection of Him. The living Rock is worthy of all our love and obedience, and He will one day make all things new.

Choose Life

Today we have the opportunity to choose life.

Extreme Consequences for Extreme Glory

In these two chapters we see God promise extreme blessing when His people trust and obey Him, and we see God promise extreme judgment when people disobey Him. And in both ways, He shows His extreme control and sovereignty over all that happens in the world.

Making Sense of God’s Old Testament Commands

The commands show the need for an ultimate grace
Moses: “The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me…”

What Will it Take?

Moses laid before the people the way of blessing and curse. They primarily chose the curse. Through the better redemption, we are freed to pursue the way of blessing today with total abandon.

Perspective Makes All the Difference

In Deuteronomy 9, we learn more from Moses’ example of what it means to live by God’s promises and not only by what we see in our personal problems and the circumstances around us. The perspective you choose makes all the difference!

Lesson from the Wilderness

Just as He did with the Israelites, God allows you to experience serious need to turn you from everyday remedies to His words and promises. When you entrust yourself to Him and trust His words, you begin to experience life on His higher level.

A Likeable God?

We can be at peace with God’s unfathomable ways in light of his unfathomable, disarming love at the cross of Christ.

Every Day, All Day Long

The Great Commandment provides a window into who God is, and the incredible nature of His intention for our lives.
